Abstract

Islamic education according to Abuddin Nata discusses various components of education such as vision, mission, goals, curriculum, teaching and learning processes, and so on, in a systematic, objective and comprehensive manner, based on the values of Islamic teachings as contained in al- Qur'an and al-Hadith and practices in Islamic history. Abuddin Nata's Islamic education contains humanist content, namely an Islamic educational formulation that maximizes the potential and abilities of the human mind as a perfect creature while still relying on and standing on the Qur'an and Sunnah. The humanist pattern of Islamic education requires a theocentric pattern, which combines the results of human thought and the provisions contained in the Qur'an and al-Hadith. Abuddin Nata strives to educate not only intellectually, but also body and soul as well as fostering skills for students by professionals with methods and various aspects that are in accordance with the demands of the times and cannot be separated from the teachings of Islam. Islamic education is now much more difficult, in this day and age, besides facing the battle of the world's great ideologies, it also faces various tendencies such as the tendency of economic integration, politics, communication and information technology, dependency, and the cultural demands of society to get a job. The relevance of the education produced by Abuddin Nata deserves an award, because this concept, in the opinion of the author, is very compatible with the current development of education which not only prioritizes science, but also pays attention to psychological issues and expertise and skills.
